Racine, Minnesota - Ross Zumbach can look back on his 2009 racing season and know he learned more in one season than most drivers have learned in a career! The 19-year-old Racine, Minnesota native made select appearances within the ASA Late Model Series as well as worked under the tutelage of esteemed Crew Chief, Rich Lushes as well as Port City Race Cars Owner, Harley Boeve.

Zumbach’s last appearance on the track was at the Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa on September 19th for the ASALMS Challenge Division’s Pork 100. He finished 12th and was definitely satisfied with the run against the stout field of drivers on hand. Now his focus is squarely on the 2010 racing season.

”We had a great weekend at Iowa and now working hard to secure sponsorship for the 2010 season. The sponsorship bug has been tough to deal with this year but it has been an exciting summer with the opportunity to debut in the ASALMS.” The Gopher State driver said. “I now have something to build off of and will have great memories from LaCrosse and the Iowa Speedway.”

“(Crew Chief) Rich Lushes brought a great car from Port City Race Cars and it was great to work with him again,” He continued. “Each day Rich and I work together we get better. Rich has done a great job this summer and has given me a run to the front each time. I learned a lot about the car again at Iowa.”

He then continued; “I’m recognizing more finite changes that can be made and how the car reacts with those changes. I can’t say enough about the help that I received from Josh Hamner, Brian Campbell, and Brent Downey at Iowa. We had the opportunity to share ideas about our cars and the track plus they made me feel relaxed and welcome to the garage area.”

As the 2009 racing season comes to a close, Zumbach realizes he’s been in a very fortunate situation teaming up with Port City Race Cars. “Harley Boeve has been wonderful and I thank him for making all of this a possibility,” Zumbach appreciatively added “I’m excited about getting back in the seat. I know that Rich and I can be good together if we get the opportunity.”

“I just hope that Ross Zumbach Motorsports can make things happen for 2010. We’ll be working hard to get our program together you can be sure of that.” He ended as he and the team have already began the search for additional marketing partners for the 2010 racing season.

Throughout the 2009 racing season, Zumbach has sported decals from Port City Race Cars, SATA Dan-Am, House Chevrolet, Dave Geerdes Farms, Hauge Brothers Farms, State Farm Insurance, Evans Enterprises, and Ross Zumbach Motorsports.

Ross Zumbach Motorsports is actively seeking Market Partners for the 2010 race season. To keep up with Ross and Ross Zumbach Motorsports, visit them online at www.rosszumbach.com and become a fan of Ross Zumbach Motorsports on Facebook!

Ross Zumbach earns an impressive seventh place finish at LaCrosse. Charlotte County is up next

By Port City Race Cars – M.P.H. PromotionsRacine, Minnesota (Wednesday, July 8, 2009): Ross Zumbach made his ASA Late Model Series debut in the River Run 100 Northern Division race at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, Wisconsin. The 19-year-old teamed up with Harley Boeve and Rich Lushes of Port City Race Cars as well 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year, Landon Cassill and steered the #61 Port City Chevrolet Impala normally driven by Cassill.Zumbach stayed out of trouble and was impressive in posting a seventh place finish. He was also the last car on the lead lap in the race won by hometown favorite and former NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Champion, Steve Carlson.“It was a great learning experience and as I got more comfortable with the car the more my confidence grew.” Zumbach excitedly stated. “I learned a lot in practice, following some of the veterans like Eddie Hoffman and Steve Carlson. It was awesome to race with Eddie, Steve,
J. Herbst and Ross Kenseth.”
The Racine, Minnesota driver qualified 11th and would start the 100-lap feature from the inside of the sixth row. “Rich (Lushes) and the guys put so much effort into making the car work on long runs and I could put it almost anywhere. With more track position we may have
had something for the next few guys, but finishing seventh and on the lead lap made for a successful night.” Zumbach explained.
“I had a lot of fun working with Rich, I think we work well together and I am looking forward to working with him more. Learning the feel for the late model was the hardest part, but once we got the car turning through the center, I adjusted to the way these cars handle compared to what I have driven.” He continued. The next race for Zumbach will be on Saturday, July 11th in an ASALMS Southern Division race down at Charlotte County Speedway in Punta Gorda, Florida. The Best Show in Town 100 will mark Zumbach’s Southern Division debut.“Knowing that Rich is excited about the Charlotte County race makes me excited. I’m looking forward to getting in front of new fans and getting experience on more tracks and I hope to take what I learned at LaCrosse and carry some momentum into the race in Florida.”Zumbach then ended; “It was a neat opportunity for me to jump into the car that Landon Cassill typically drives and to have Roger Cassill spot for me again really helped with settling into the entire day. We really did have a successful day, we met our goals for the practice
sessions and we had a super finish.”

Another of the young guns joining the series in 2007 is Ross Zumbach of Racine, MN. Zumbach began his racing career at age 5 when he turned his first laps in a go-kart and moved to legend cars until the age of 15. Zumbach’s first year in a Mid-American stock car was impressive as he recorded 4 wins in his rookie year at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids Iowa. He was named Rookie of the Year and finished 5th in points only 28 points behind the champion. Zumbach sees the Mid-American Stock Car Series as the next step in his racing development. “Experience (is why I am running the series) and the challenge of running with top drivers every week,” said Zumbach of his decision to run with the Mid-American Stock Car Series in 2007. Zumbach’s goals for his racing career are just like those of any other young driver, “(I hope) to make it as far as possible, when the right opportunities present themselves I will be looking forward to them!” exclaimed Zumbach.

Zumbach made his Mid-American Stock Car Series debut at the Golden Sands Speedway on April 29th. A few problems clouded his practice and qualifying runs. However, Zumbach was impressive in working his way through the field of the last chance race missing a transfer position by only one spot. According to Zumbach’s website he will compete in the remaining events of the 2007 season.
